I do not know about anyone else, who has worked for Midwest Valet in St. Louis, but I hear some employees have problems getting their pay checks or their paychecks are several weeks late. Also, I understand that Midwest Valet may be in violation of paying the correct minimum wage.
My experience has been very bad when it comes to getting my paycheck. The first check I recieved was short one week and no one would tell me why. The second check they claim got lost in the mail. The third check they sent me, was only for one week and it bounced. Finally they mailed me the 6 weeks they owed me. So when my check bounced and I guess I got fired, because I did not show up for work on the day the bank informed the check was no good. Just could not work another day for free. Now as of this date and repeated request, they have not paid me my final paycheck or the the amount they deducted for the so called collision savings account.
Never got an apology for the bounced check or an offer to pay me the extra money my bank charged me for the bad check.
As for the minimum wage problem, I will do this in a separate post and show you how you may be getting shorted on your paycheck for the minimum wage due you.
Meanwhile, I would like to hear anyones comments on their experience with anything at Midwest Valet.
I set this up so you can comment annonymously and I will not edit your comments, so you can say what ever you like.

Get a fucking life man. What do you think your really going to accomplish with this? You got fired cause you didn't show up for your shift...I still work for midwest valet and haven't had any problems with them. Have you talked to Greg or Courtney about your problem? They don't strike me as the type of person that would ignore you if you call them. Grow up, move on, and shut the hell up!
How much $$ are we talking that they owe you?
Actually I have a life and have called and sent letters to Greg & Courtney with no response. The mere fact the it took six weeks to pay me and a checked bounce makes it a little difficult to defend their actions. As for moving on, happy to do so when they finally pay me. You sound like a relative, but if your experience has been good more power to you. The information I posted is true and factual and well documented. Certainly if they are credible, they should have no problem sending me my final check without hesitation. I actually sent them a postage paid envelope to make it easier on them. I have been extremely patient with them in regards to waiting for my pay but at some point you have to speak out. As you did in you comments about me.
In regards to how much they owe me, it is $219.23. Midwest Valet has owed me this amount since July 12, 2008. Seems they have had sufficient time to pay me. That is 30 days today.
Ya, why shouldn't they pay you. It is wrong of them to withhold your pay. I have heard they do this to some employees for no reason. This guys a scank. Bottom line is if you work, you should get paid without a hassle. Good for you for not showing up for work. I would not go to work either if they owed me six weeks pay and then my paycheck bounced. I wonder who else they have screwed over. I going to check into into that minimum wage thing. I got a feeling he has been riping us off.
Yea I agree its crap. I tried to cash a 122 dollar check at my bank and it bounced. They then issued me another check and I took it to their bank to see if they had funds in their account. The first day I was able to cash a check for 29 dollars but not my 122 dollar. I then called and Melissa said they put money in the account and I should be able to cash my check. I then went back to bank of america and tried to cash my check again it failed no money. The bank teller gave us an example. She said that if an account was -1000 and the person put in 900 the account still be be in the hole. So who knows when they will be out of the hole. I would like my money.
If your check bounces with Midwest Valet, do not attempt to cash it again or accept a replacement check. St. Louis County, Prosecuting attorney will do the collection for you. They will either get your money or arrest Greg or the person that signed the check. The telephone number to call is 314.615.7522 and the complaint form can be downloaded at http://www.stlouisco.com/pa/badcheck.html
You will also get the amount of any charges you bank charges you.
Here is an email comment I just received from another Midwest Valet employee:
"hey whats up man, long time since we last talked. i actually got a bounced check, and was fired because i said that i wasnt going to work if i wasnt going to get paid and courtney said "well then you are fucking fired BYE" and hung up the phone on me. i am still waiting on my last paycheck, and my "deductable" check."
Hi, I was doing some research on this place because I have an interview for a job with them coming up and when I was on the phone with Greg it seemed like a sketchy conversation. Something told me to try to find a blog about other employees opinions on working for them, and I'm flabbergasted. I would appreciate a reply telling me if I should even bother showing up to the interview. Thanks.
Show up for interview. NO Way. You will get hired and then eventually screwed. This is why Greg / Midwest Valet is always hiring. I remember having the same impression when I interviewed and wish I would have listened to my gut feeling that this guy is a sleeze bag. There are other valet parking companies, try the major parking garages, they hire valets too because they manage the hotel lots. Also the hotels hire their own valets and they are legit. It will be your lose if you go for the interview. The first clue should be his office. It is in an old abandoned school house. Probably could not get a real office.
Thanks. I appreciate the blog and the reply. I had that "gut feeling" too and I'm glad I found something out before I wasted my time. I hope you get your paycheck situation fixed. If not I know a great attorney that got me a thousand bucks for an auto accident that an insurance company wouldn't close my hospital bills on. I guess reply if you want/need his name and office. It's on Olive I believe, downtown.
Try ambassador valet. They pay $7 per hour and have a lot of work to go around.
I have not recieved a paycheck from the time I worked in september. I have emailed them many times and have not gotten any reply. This is now beginning of February. I only worked a week, but I still worked 6 days for them. How do I get paid?
If you want to get paid you will have to file a claim in small claims court in St Louis County. File for the amount they owe you and continuous pay up to know as Missouri state law requires a employer to pay you continuously if they failed to give you your last pay check. The judge will award you interest plus up to the maximum allowed in small claims court. Odds are you will not go to court as their lawyer will call you and settle. Make sure you get what it cost you to file, interest and amount owed and a few extra dollars. He is counting on you not suing and going quitely away. If you want to get your money you will have to take him on. Most people dont and he keeps your pay check. He wins, you loose.
Thank you for your info.
How would I know the interest rate?
After a barrage of 50+ e-mails, I finally received my pay. It only took 6 months. I had to threaten them with small claims court, IRS, and National Labor Relations Board.
Here is how to do it: Email them with a simple inquiry, i.e. What is the status of my paycheck?
Wait a day. If no response, email again first thing in the morning. If no response by 4, email again. If no response in the morning, email every hour that day. If no response, set aside 30 minutes to rapid fire some emails until you hear back from them.
The key is to blow up their email until they address you. Be calm and professional, but be adment about getting the situation resolved.
They say something about an exit interview being necessary to recieve your paycheck... its not in the employee handbook nor does the national labor relations board require it. They are only allowed to withhold your final paycheck for so long before there comes legal issues.
Here is a fun legal way to mess with MVP.
Set up a few email accounts under aliases and email them requesting their service and quotes. Then ask to meet them for payment. MAke them meet you at whatever ficticious business you make up. Waste their time the way they waste yours.
I used Midwest Valet Parking for my wedding and was totally impressed. The well dressed attendants showed up early, helped set up last minute items, and even assisted my grandmother into the building. I could not have asked for a better group of gentleman. Also I received positive feed back from my guests who said “After I left the wedding the valets gave us tips on places to go in the city so we could keep on celebrating” I will always recommend Midwest Valet.
Thanks
Julie Stillman
^^^^^ bull crap ^^^^^^
Don't believe a word of that.
Who would post a pleasant experience with midwest under a section titled "Still waiting on my paycheck"? Probably someone from the office trying to counter-attack.
